Famous infant-care brand Johnson & Johnson’s can now resume COVID-19 vaccine shots as per the orders of The United States. The CDC (Centres for Disease Control and Prevention) and food & drugs administration mentioned that the risks of experiencing syndrome involving severe blood clots and low platelets due to the vaccine were low. Only 15 cases out of 8 million people were found to have get infected because of the given these shots.
“We are no longer recommending a pause in the use of this vaccine,” CDC Director Rochelle Walensky told a news briefing. “Based on the in-depth analysis, there is likely an association but the risk is very low.”
Problem is convincing & re-gaining trust of people:
Now the problem for baby care product-giant is to re-convincing the people buy their vaccines.
The clotting seems to be relatively concentrated in relatively young women,” said Pitt professor of epidemiology Dr. Lee Harrison. “Even that age group, it’s still a very rare complication.”
The initial cases of blood clots were in young women, leading many in that age group to be concerned about the vaccine. The FDA decided to not limit the vaccine’s use by gender or age, but there will be an alert added to the vaccine’s label.
“Regardless, the risks from any of the vaccines are very, very low. The risks of COVID-19 are very high,” Harrison said.
