Link UAN with Aadhaar by Dec 31 else EPF account contributions will stop: Here’s how to link

Must read

“If your UAN is not linked with the Aadhaar number, your employer/establishment will not be able to deposit your monthly contribution from 01.01.2022. Hence, you’re requested to link your Aadhaar with UAN on or before 31.12.2021 if it is not linked already,” stated the Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) on the Member Sewa Portal.

What this means is that an EPF member must link his/her Aadhaar with his/her Universal Account Number (UAN) on or before the deadline (December 31, 2021) so that the EPF amount is deposited. Also note that withdrawals from your EPF account will be restricted until your UAN has been confirmed and linked to your Aadhaar number.

The UAN deadline has been extended several times. Initially, UAN-Aadhaar linking was to be done May 31, 2021. However, this was extended twice again – first to August 31, 2021 and then to November 30, 2021. Now this deadline has been extended to December 31, 2021.

If you are yet to link your Aadhaar with UAN then here is how you can do it.

How to link your UAN with Aadhaar

Step 1: Log in to the Member Sewa portal on

Step 2: Select the ‘KYC’ option under the ‘Manage’ tab.

Step 3: Select ‘Aadhaar’ option to add a KYC document.

Step 4: The screen will display your name as it appears on your Aadhaar card. The Aadhaar number will be required to be entered.

To link UAN with Aadhaar, you would be needed to provide approval for Aadhaar-based authentication.

Step 5: Select ‘Save’ from the drop-down menu. It will appear under ‘pending KYC’ once it has been saved. Your employer must give his or her consent for your UAN to be linked to Aadhaar.

For the linking process to be completed, it must first be accepted by your employer and then by the EPFO.

How to check if your UAN is linked to Aadhaar

Step 1: Visit the member sewa portal:

Step 2: Enter your UAN and password to login

Step 3: Once logged in successfully, select ‘KYC’ option under the ‘Manage’ tab.

If your Aadhaar number is displayed and accepted on the screen under the verified documents page, your UAN is linked with Aadhaar.

If the Aadhaar number does not appear under the verified documents tab, you will need to link your UAN to Aadhaar.
