NEW DELHI: Adani Group chief Gautam Adani has become the 4th richest person in world by surpassing Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates.
According to Forbes rich list, Adani reached the 4th position with a total net worth of $115.4 billion. This is about $11 billion higher than that of Gates, who’s wealth stands at $104.2 billion.
On April 4 this year, Adani entered the $100-billion wealth club and now holds a place among the top 5 richest people in the world.
He is now also the richest Asian, with Reliance Industries chairman Mukesh Ambani slipping to the 10th position in global richest rankings.
The business tycoon is now behind only 3 people: Tesla chief Elon Musk — who continues to hold the topmost spot with a total net worth of $234.4 billion, Louis Vuitton CEO Bernard Arnault at $155.7 billion and Amazon founder Jeff Bezos who is placed at 3rd place with $143.9 billion.
Shares of Adani Group companies have shown stellar performance in the past 2 years. Adani added the most wealth in 2021, about $49 billion, at the rate of Rs 6,000 crore per weak, a report by the latest Hurun rich list had showed.
In absolute terms, he became the world’s biggest wealth gainer — higher than the worlds two richest persons, Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos.
